My journey into woodworking began at five years old, standing at a workbench beside my grandfather. I still remember the pride of owning my first real toolbox. A gift that sparked a lifelong obsession with creating things that last. I still use the same block plane today!
Woodworking was never just a hobby. It was always something deeper. A connection to the people who came before me, and a belief that if you're going to build something, you build it properly. You build it to last.
When my son was born, everything shifted. I made the decision to take time away from my corporate career to ask what I really wanted to build with my life. The answer had been in my hands all along. Wadeys Furniture Co. was born from that moment; a furniture business built on everything I'd inherited: precision, craft, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.
My great-grandfather was a master piano maker; a craftsman who understood that an instrument is only as good as the hands and precision that built it. On the other side of my family, the craft ran just as deep. A cabinet maker who shaped wood into furniture built to last. Engineers and clockmakers who understood that every component, however small, had a purpose and a place.
From all of them I inherited something that can't be taught; a relentless attention to detail, and an understanding that the difference between good and exceptional lives in the details most people never notice.
That philosophy lives in every piece I make. In the precision of the floating top joint. In the contrast of the walnut inlay against the oak. In the finish that takes twice as long but lasts a lifetime.
At Wadeys Furniture Co., I believe furniture should be a member of the family, not a temporary fixture. We live in a world of fast furniture; mass produced, disposable, designed to be replaced. I want to make the opposite of that.
Every piece I design is engineered to withstand the beautiful chaos of daily life; the spills, the homework, the late-night conversations, while still being something worth talking about. Furniture that gets better with age, that carries the marks of a life well lived, and that can be passed down to the next generation.
